Can I build my product,
vendor, or customer file in “Demo” mode while I am waiting
to receive my licensed copy? |
| |
|
Yes, you can begin populating the
database while in evaluation mode. The following procedures
describe how to transfer the populated database to the
fully licensed version of RegistWARE 2.0.
Procedures
Copy and Paste the DB folder to another safe location
so we have a safe copy of the database. The DB directory
is located in directory C:\Microworks\RegistWARE\
Copy and Paste procedures are performed by right clicking on the DB folder
and selecting copy or paste.
Insert the RegistWARE installation CD.
Allow the RegistWARE installation CD to remove/uninstall RegistWARE.
If prompted to Reinstall or Remove, select Remove.
Place the USB dongle into a free USB port on the computer.
Install the USB dongle drivers. The drivers are located on the RegistWARE
installation CD within the System32 directory. CD:\System32
Once the USB dongle has been properly installed. Install RegistWARE.
If the CD does not auto launch, the installation can be manually started
by double-clicking the CD:\Setup.exe file.
After completion of RegistWARE installation. Copy the previously saved
DB folder and paste it back into the C:\Microworks\RegistWARE\ directory.
When prompted to Overwrite, select yes.
Execute the RWUpdate.exe utility. The RWUpdate is located C:\Microworks\RegistWARE\

How to perform a restore from
a backup of RegistWARE |
| |
|
This restore process is only available
in RegistWARE versions 2.x.x.x. The restore process is
not reversible. It is recommended to perform a backup
of the RegistWARE data before performing a restore if
possible.
Make sure all RegistWARE stations are shutdown.
From the RegistWARE station where the initial install
was performed, follow the below steps:
From the RegistWARE directory, open RWRestore.exe C:\MicroWorks\RegistWARE\
In older versions of RegistWARE 2.x.x.x, the RWRestore utility requires
a password before a restore can be performed. In the recent updates,
a password is not required to perform a restore. If the RWRestore prompts
you for a password, you will need to contact RegistWARE Technical Support
to acquire the password. RegistWARE technicians will be able to provide
the password free of charge if no other technical support is requested.
To contact support, refer to article FAQ002.
Browse to the directory where the backup file that is
to be restored from is located. Click on the Archive
Location button to browse to the directory. By default,
unless previously changed by the user, RegistWARE saves
the backup files to C:\MicroWorks\RegistWARE\DBLocal\
The “Available Backup Archives” field will populated

This message will appear if you are
replacing an old computer and installing onto a new computer.
This error message will also appear if your computer
crashed and you had to do a full reinstall of the windows
operating system.
MORE INFORMATION
What happens to cause this error is the computer name of the computer
using RegistWARE is changed. RegistWARE identifies each register by the
name that was given to that computer station. If you are reinstalling
Windows Operating System or changing to a new computer and don’t give
that computer the same name as the old computer, RegistWARE will treat
the computer as a new RegistWARE station.
The simplest way to prevent this error is to give the
computer the exact same name as the old computer station.
To change the computer name to the same name as the old
station, follow these steps:
These Steps will be performed on the computer that is
getting the error.

Summary
This error message appears if a RegistWARE
station was not properly shutdown. Most common reasons
for this error to occur are RegistWARE stations are
still open, or if a power failure occurred, computer
locked
up and had to be manually shutdown, etc… If there
was a power failure and a computer that was using
RegistWARE
was not properly shutdown, the RegistWARE server
was not notified that RegistWARE has been shutdown;
therefore
it will think that the station is still using RegistWARE.
MORE INFORMATION
Double check that all computer stations that are using RegistWARE are
shutdown. If RegistWARE is running, it will need to be shutdown. This
should solve the problem. Double check that all computer stations that are using

These steps will be performed on the main RegistWARE server machine where
the database is located. It is highly recommended to perform a backup
of your database and use extreme caution when using the RegistWARE Database
Utility.
1. Go to the following directory and open the RWDbsys.exe
file. (You might not see the .exe part of the file name).

RegistWARE is not processing
credit cards using PC Charge. |
| |
|
If there are ever problems processing
credit cards with RegistWARE while using PCCharge as the
credit card processing software, always test PCCharge to
make sure PCCharge is working properly. If PCCharge is
not working when tested, then RegistWARE will not process
credit cards. For information about testing PCCharge, refer
to PCCharge’s technical support.
MORE INFORMATION
1. Test credit card transactions using the PCCharge software. If credit
cards are not working with PCCharge, they will not process using RegistWARE.
The first step is to confirm that PCCharge is fully functional and working
properly.
2. PCCharge must be open and running while RegistWARE is running. If PCCharge
is not open, then RegistWARE will not be able to process credit cards.
3. Setup PCCharge information in RegistWARE setup. |

About properties. Open the PCCharge software, go to Help > About.
This will give you information about your processor and merchant ID number.
The processor is always 4 letters all caps. The merchant ID number is
approximately 12 characters long and all numbers. It is important to
type in the processor and merchant ID number into RegistWARE exactly
how it is seen in PCCharge.
There were a couple version of RegistWARE that will
not work with PCCharge without some manual modifications
to the registry. The following directions will get PCCharge
and RegistWARE to work together. These strings were not
added to the registry settings, so we will need to manually
add them. If you find that the two strings are already
added in your registry, confirm that they have the correct
merchantID and Processor information.
7. click on Start > Run. Then type in regedit and
press OK.
