4.   Can I build my product, vendor, or customer file in “Demo” mode while I am waiting to receive my licensed copy?

Yes, you can begin populating the database while in evaluation mode. The following procedures describe how to transfer the populated database to the fully licensed version of RegistWARE 2.0.

Procedures
Copy and Paste the DB folder to another safe location so we have a safe copy of the database. The DB directory is located in directory C:\Microworks\RegistWARE\
Copy and Paste procedures are performed by right clicking on the DB folder and selecting copy or paste.
Insert the RegistWARE installation CD.
Allow the RegistWARE installation CD to remove/uninstall RegistWARE. If prompted to Reinstall or Remove, select Remove.
Place the USB dongle into a free USB port on the computer.
Install the USB dongle drivers. The drivers are located on the RegistWARE installation CD within the System32 directory. CD:\System32
Once the USB dongle has been properly installed. Install RegistWARE. If the CD does not auto launch, the installation can be manually started by double-clicking the CD:\Setup.exe file.
After completion of RegistWARE installation. Copy the previously saved DB folder and paste it back into the C:\Microworks\RegistWARE\ directory. When prompted to Overwrite, select yes.
Execute the RWUpdate.exe utility. The RWUpdate is located C:\Microworks\RegistWARE\ directory. Double click the RWUpdate. This will perform an update on the previous database to work with the new installation of RegistWARE.

5.   Can I export sales data to a third party software such as Microsoft Excel?
RegistWARE 2.0 does not export sales data, however, RegistWARE Pro includes the ODBC drivers that allow connection to a third party connection.

6.   Is a printed version of the RegistWARE User’s Guide available?
No, you can not order a printed copy of the User’s Guide, however, when you install RegistWARE, an electronic copy of the Guide is installed in the C:\MicroWorks\RegistWARE directory. This is in PDF format and can be opened and printed to your Windows printer. To open, go to Start/Programs/RegistWARE/User’s Guide. There is also a copy located on your RegistWARE installation CD, which allows you to take it to another PC and print from that PC (When you insert the CD it will “autostart” the setup, cancel the setup and exit, then go to Windows Explorer and browse the CD for the User’s Guide).

7.   Do I need to install Windows printer drivers for my receipt printer or bar code printer?

When installing a receipt printer or a barcode label printer, RegistWARE has written the printer drivers into the software. This allows printing directly to the port the printer is attached to. Windows printer drivers do not need to be installed for these printers to work with RegistWARE. Please check the Hardware Compatibility List for compatible printers.

MORE INFORMATION

What happens to cause this error is the computer name of the computer using RegistWARE is changed. RegistWARE identifies each register by the name that was given to that computer station. If you are reinstalling Windows Operating System or changing to a new computer and don’t give that computer the same name as the old computer, RegistWARE will treat the computer as a new RegistWARE station.

The simplest way to prevent this error is to give the computer the exact same name as the old computer station. To change the computer name to the same name as the old station, follow these steps:

These Steps will be performed on the computer that is getting the error.

Summary

This error message appears if a RegistWARE station was not properly shutdown. Most common reasons for this error to occur are RegistWARE stations are still open, or if a power failure occurred, computer locked up and had to be manually shutdown, etc… If there was a power failure and a computer that was using RegistWARE was not properly shutdown, the RegistWARE server was not notified that RegistWARE has been shutdown; therefore it will think that the station is still using RegistWARE.

MORE INFORMATION
